Thanks to your support, it’s been an incredible year for bsmart, which means we’re over the moon to announce that our annual cashback bonus pool for 2018 stands at a whopping R28m. This brings the total bonus payouts to our members for the past four years to R138m.
Despite the current economic climate, bsmart’s 37 000 members spent R1.13-billion at our extensive national retailer partner network, resulting in individual cashback bonuses of R2 000 and up for our top spenders during the year. That’s an impressive result.
If you’re new to all this, here’s how it works
A cashback bonus accumulates every time you pay for your purchases using your bsmart card, while helping you to manage your budgets more efficiently. You are given a monthly limit to purchase at over 12 000 stores nationally, including everyday household shopping favourites like Checkers, Shoprite, Pick n Pay Woolworths, Makro, Game, Clicks, Dis-Chem, Edgars, Jet Stores, and many more.
All purchases made using the bsmart card must be settled by the end of each month, thereby ensuring a convenient, debt-free lifestyle, over and above the cashback benefit received from retailers where you usually shop.
Your cashback bonus can be a real help when you need it
With the recession, the price of petrol and December spending on the radar, the annual cashback payout does indeed make a difference to your household budget and savings. “The cashback bonus comes as a welcome surprise in time for the festive season” says Mr. W Hartmann, who has been a member of bsmart since 2009.
And there’s even more to look forward to
Competitive offerings in the market, in the form of bank-led loyalty and rewards programmes, continue to challenge our business model and there is no doubt that the economic pressure has contributed to a slowdown in consumer spending. Every business out there can see and feel the effect of the current recession. We do, however, realise that you are getting smarter in terms of spending and are constantly searching for opportunities to maximise your budgets, with the aim to stay out of debt.
The exciting news is that bsmart will be launching a pre-funding card offering in 2019, allowing for more flexibility and the ability to make online payments. The pre-funding offering will allow for prospective members to apply for an account without a credit check and money has to be transferred onto the bsmart card in order to use it for transacting at the retailer stores.
In 2019, existing members can look forward to receiving a new bsmart card with PIN functionality for added safety and security, as well as the ability to make online payments.
Our purpose has always been to unlock value for our members, the South African consumer, and to maximise your spending power by providing benefits that are simple to understand, value-adding, innovative and financially sustainable.
